My girl, the T-baller!

Today was a fabulous day here in Minnesota. Sad to think that 68 degrees in May is credited with being fabulous, but with the long winter we had, we'll take it!

Cate is finally at an age where she is eligible to participate in local recreation center programs. This June, she will be playing T-ball. I thought it would be a good idea to sign her up for a team activity in the hopes she can learn to play better with others and just be one of the kids instead of being the boss. So last week I got her a new glove and tee-ball and this morning I picked up my old glove at my parents' house (it's so old, it has my maiden name on it). We took advantage of the sunny day and walked to our local park with our gloves and tee-ball to take in a little field practice.

First I started with lobbing the ball into her glove. The sure thing happened, the head turned away, the body flinched and the ball almost always hitting the ground. Then I got smart and starting rolling her grounders. Boy, can she trap the ball. She got to the point where she was starting to dig up to the ball as it came to her. And she's got a pretty straight throw right back at me. We swung an imaginary bat, ran around the bases and had fun trying to tag each other out.

When Cate needed a "rest", we walked over to the playground area where Kyle and Max were hanging out. Max was having a lot of fun climbing around and taking the slides down by himself. Kyle got a few shots of the play at the park. Unfortunately, the batteries died before we could catch any of the future star t-baller in action. Next time, my friend...next time.
