On Being Thankful

At dinner, we were talking about a friend's mom who has come in town and staying through Thanksgiving. So I asked Cate what she was thankful for.

Cate: "I am thankful for Mom and Dad and Max."

Me: "Max. What are you thankful for?"

Max: "I am thankful that Christmas will be the next day from Thanksgiving."

Cate: "Oh! I'm also thankful God gave me the gift of art."

After a pause, Cate continued: "I wonder what Max's gift from God will be."

Me: "Maybe he will have the gift of cooking."

Cate: "I sure hope it's not the gift of talking!"
